• Treats moderate to severe Alzheimer’s type dementia

Dementa-D Capsule (Extended Release)

Ingredients:

• Memantine Hydrochloride (as Extended Release Pellets) 7 mg & Donepezil Hydrochloride (as Immediate Release Pellets) 10 mg
• Memantine Hydrochloride (as Extended Release Pellets) 14 mg & Donepezil Hydrochloride (as Immediate Release Pellets) 10 mg
• Memantine Hydrochloride (as Extended Release Pellets) 21 mg & Donepezil Hydrochloride (as Immediate Release Pellets) 10 mg
• Memantine Hydrochloride (as Extended Release Pellets) 28 mg & Donepezil Hydrochloride (as Immediate Release Pellets) 10 mg

Side Effects of Dementa-D 14/10mg Capsule

• Common adverse reactions include headache, diarrhea, dizziness, anorexia, vomiting, nausea, and ecchymosis.

Indication of Dementa-D 14/10mg Capsule

Treatment of moderate to severe dementia associated with Alzheimer's disease in patients previously treated with donepezil alone.

Pharmacology

• Memantine: Acts as a low to moderate affinity uncompetitive (open channel) NMDA receptor antagonist.
• Donepezil: Enhances cholinergic function by increasing acetylcholine concentration in the central nervous system.

Dosage & Administration of Dementa-D 14/10mg Capsule

• Starting dose: 7 mg/10 mg, taken once daily in the evening.
• Maintenance dose: 28 mg/10 mg.
• Minimum recommended interval between dose increases: one week.

Interaction

• Use with caution with NMDA antagonists.
• May interfere with anticholinergic medications.
• Concomitant administration with certain drugs may lead to synergistic effects.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to memantine hydrochloride, donepezil hydrochloride, piperidine derivatives, or any excipients.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is no adequate data on the developmental risk associated with the use of memantine and donepezil hydrochloride extended-release capsules or its active ingredients (memantine hydrochloride and donepezil hydrochloride) in pregnant women. There are no data on the presence of memantine or donepezil in human milk, the effects on the breastfed infant, or the effects of memantine and donepezil hydrochlorides extended-release capsules or their metabolites on milk production. 

Precautions & Warnings

• Monitor for exaggerated muscle relaxation during anesthesia.
• May have vagotonic effects on the heart.
• Monitor for gastrointestinal bleeding, especially in high-risk patients.
• Can cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and bladder outflow obstructions.
• Conditions affecting urine pH may alter memantine plasma levels.

Keep below 30°C, away from light & moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
